Why Animas? I came to Animas High School because I like the idea of continuing to be in a project-based learning school like Mountain Middle School. I also came to Animas because it was an alternative to Durango High School and I know that I need a more personalized learning style. I want to try to get better at Reading, Writing and typing at Animas so that I am prepared for Flight School or getting my Yacht-Master license. I am looking forward to the internships at Animas, and I’ve already enjoyed internships at the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum, working as an assistant to the museum curator. I would like to have my LINK internship have to do with Aviation, the railroad or sailing. I hope that I will be able to get my pilot's license and sail around the world After High School. Education means to me improving and learning new skills of how I can complete jobs and tasks. To me, education is school and learning. Learning can take place everywhere– in schools, the Coast Guard, sailing, flight school, out in nature. I don’t like schools, because I’m not interested in learning things just to get a grade. I like project-based learning, but I do not like grades. I will know that I am educated enough when I complete high school, have my pilot’s license and my Yacht-Master.
